TERRACODE
TerraCode
The TerraCode Portal translates addresses into geographic locations and vice versa, it is used to check the validity of an address or to find the address of an individual parcel of land. It is designed for interactive single transaction use.
The TerraCode Portal relies on the Australian Government's G-NAF (Geocoded National Address File) database which is the authoritative address index for Australia. Containing state, suburb, street, number and coordinate reference or geocode for street addresses, G-NAF's address sources include state and territory Government land records, address data from Australia Post and the Australian Electoral Commission.
Through a rigorous process involving textual address comparison, matching and geospatial validation, G-NAF has achieved national consistency and coverage to previously unattainable levels.
The TerraCode Portal uses the following TerraPages Web Services:
- TerraCode Geocoder is a web service to 'geocode' or geographically locate an Australian address by adding a geographic coordinate (latitude & longitude) to an existing customer address.
- TerraCode Reverse Geocoder is a web service to list any Australian addresses that are near a geographic location (latitude & longitude).
